Investors in this public/private partnership are the German Federal Ministry for Business and Technology (BMWi), the KfW Banking Group as well as the six industrial companies BASF, Deutsche Telekom, Siemens, Robert Bosch, Daimler and Carl Zeiss. These recent developments not only confirm the tremendous potential seen in SHP´s product, but also, will better enable the company to continue with its goal of showcasing its turbine in early April 2011 in Munich, Germany.

Smart Hydro Power wins at the enable2start competition
Along with a prize of € 50,000, Smart Hydro Power will be closely followed and reported on by the Financial Times Deutschland for the rest of the year. There will be monthly summaries of the company´s progress, struggles, surprises and success; along with quarterly reports of the company´s most important business numbers. The competition and event´s sponsors were Daimler, Ergo, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, and Alice.
Smart Hydro Power for the Peruvian Amazonas
St. Martin has an ambitious plan for sustainable rural electrification. With the Smart Hydro Power turbine it is possible to make excellent use of the region’s immense hydro-electrical potential without imposing environmental costs. A test site close to a rural hospital has been selected and preliminary studies will begin in January 2011. The turbine will arrive in Peru in June 2011. The project will occur in conjunction with GIZ, Practical Action, GRSM, the regional government of St. Martin, and the community of Alto Mayo.
